Toni, recent resident at our Hazelwood development in the highly sought-after location of Rosemount, Blairgowrie, speaks of her experience moving into her dream Scotia home…


Why buy new?

“The house market for buying a used property, whilst on paper the houses seem cheaper, you’ve got to put in a bid over and beyond to try and secure that purchase. We did that a couple of times, once on a really nice bungalow in Callander, once on a house in Doune, very similar to what we’re now in, and both times we missed out.

“We needed to secure the purchase of our own home which is why we then decided the easiest way to guarantee getting what we want is to buy new. It’s something we’ve never done before.”

“It’s a really nice town. Any of the shops that you go in the people are really really friendly, in the distance you can see rolling hills and mountains, it feels quite central to what we want to try and achieve by coming up to Scotland: a real bit of work-life balance; some real good down time when we’re not at work and really enjoy the countryside. It’s not far from the beach as well, it’s just a really nice location.“


Would you recommend Scotia Homes?

“We definitely would recommend Scotia Homes. The quality of the build of the home is really good. I’ve got to say actually, it’s the service that we’ve had. From Joan in that initial deposit bit, the support that we’ve had in terms of the issues that we had selling down south and just the process of moving in has been literally pretty faultless.

“It’s been a long process for us because we had delays in selling our home down in England but actually the process of buying up here with Scotia has been really easy. They’ve been really kind to us.”


“The service totally from start to finish has been superb”

“We travelled up every 2/3/4 weeks – a 200 mile round trip - to see the development of the house and I’ve got to say Stephen the Site Manager, Willie the Assistant Site Manager, if they were about they’d always stop, say hello, tell us what’s going on, give us the timescales so we knew that the house was on track which I thought was really really good. It wasn’t something I necessarily expected to get but something that was given to us.

“When we moved in, Stephen was there on the day of handover with Joan, we talked a little bit about our concerns because we’ve got two big dogs as the garden was patioed from what we had chosen as an extra but the rest of the garden was soil ready for us to turf. Our concern was we’ve got this lovely brand new house with nice new carpets in, how are we going to keep the dogs off the soil. They helped us with that solution. They helped us block off the patio so the dogs could only get onto the patio. It wasn’t something I ever really expected them to do, again it was just something that felt like they had gone over and above with so the service totally from start to finish has been superb with Scotia Homes.
