Scotia sat down with award-winning interior designs - and the name behind most of our showhomes - Ambiance, to get an insight into the latest trends and fashions this spring.
Karen McKimmie, Ambiance Director and Owner, discusses how to transform your space with small changes:
"I don’t think we realise how much we are influenced by the seasons when it comes to choosing colours for our interiors. In winter so many clients opt for warm, cosy design schemes and in summer and spring it’s bright and light colours and lighter textures that dominate. So what can we do to have a refresh when we come out of the depths of winter and into Spring with the lighter nights and so much more brightness.
"The easiest and most cost effective way to make changes is to change the accessories. Swapping out cushions is an excellent way to give a room a completely different vibe and identity. We have clients who have winter and summer cushions so there’s no need to discard, just recycle for the seasons.
"Green is still a very popular colour for Spring 2025 and can be vibrant or pastel, ranging from olive to pistachio. Green reflects the season and pairing green accessories (cushions, rugs etc) with some plants can bring a room out of hibernation and transform your space, giving it a spring vibrancy.
"Introducing plants into our living environment connects us to nature and brings the outside in. As well as looking great, plants have been proven to improve our mental and physical well being, and improve our mood. If you don’t have green fingers or suitable light for real plants, artificial plants can equally enhance your space aesthetically. And you can have great fun shopping for new pots and baskets without breaking the bank.
"Whatever the season, it’s always easy to tweak your interior to suit without having a major overhaul."
