Chapelpark Site Manager Fraser Stephen wins NHBC's Seal of Excellence Award and Scottish Regional Award in the Medium Builder Category at the annual NHBC Pride in the Job awards on Friday in Glasgow.
Winners of the Pride in the Job Awards have been under site inspections and meticulous scoring and verification since July last year and covers England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man. Every site manager managing a site registered for NHBC Buildmark is automatically entered, competing against each other at a regional level to win Quality Awards, Seals of Excellence and the overall Regional Awards in their categories.
Pride in the Job is considered by many as being the Oscars for the house building industry and it has driven up the quality of new build houses and homeowner satisfaction.
The competition raises standards in house building and inspires site managers and their teams to give just that little bit more, either to win their first award, get to the next level or simply continue a winning streak.
Fraser has continued to work hard since his introduction to the company in 2005 and his recent awards show the commitment and focus he has shown over the last 18 years, starting as an apprentice joiner and now leading a site team as manager.
Fraser Stephen is 1 of only 3 winners in the whole of Scotland for the Regional Award, and only winner in the Medium Builder category. Other Regional winners were from Edinburgh and Dunfermline.
He had this to say: "Genuinely lost for words, I can’t believe we have topped winning a Quality Award at the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards, by not only winning a Seal of Excellence but the Regional Award too!
"My team and I are incredibly proud to have represented Scotia Homes and won the Medium Builder category. One of the best years in my career so far.
"I can’t thank everyone involved at Chapelpark enough, for all their hard work and dedication. Their support does not go unnoticed.
"The NHBC hosted a fantastic day on Friday, and I look forward to representing Scotia at the national Supreme Awards in London."
Scotia Homes’ Chairman, Gary Gerrard, comments on Fraser's achievements: "Huge congratulations Fraser to you and your team. What a fantastic achievement. We are all very proud of you."
Allan Currie, Quality Manager, also spoke of Fraser's achievements: "Massive congratulations to Fraser Stephen who not only picked up his very first NHBC Seal of Excellence award, but then raised the roof by taking the top Site Manager award for Scotland in the Medium Builder category, stunning achievement. Feeling extremely proud to be part of the amazing Scotia Homes team."
Alan Duguid, Construction Manager, shows his support for Fraser and his journey at Scotia Homes: "Fraser has been a consistent credit to Scotia Homes from the first day he started with me as an apprentice to the present day.
"Genuinely a great guy who puts everything into his site and team. Couldn't be prouder of your achievements, Fraser! Going from strength to strength each year and picking up the top award in Scotland is simply outstanding.
"Supported by a massive team from throughout the business and the whole site team. Every single one of you should take great pride in what has been achieved here."
Commenting on the Awards, Raymond Baxter, NHBC Regional Director for Scotland said: “Congratulations to Fraser Stephen of Scotia Homes for being a Pride in the Job 2023 Regional Award winner for his work at Chapelpark in Inverurie. Fraser has shown a keen eye for detail on this well organised site, as well as continual improvement year on year.
“Judging for the Awards is rigorous and for more than 40 years, Pride in the Job has been an important part of NHBC’s work to help drive construction quality and raise standards in house building. By recognising Fraser as one of the best site managers across the UK, we’re celebrating the vital role he plays in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction quality standards.”
Next Fraser takes on London where he competes against the rest of the UK at the National Supreme Awards in 2024.
