Willowburn customers "fell in love" with the 3 bedroom Gardener

30th Aug, 2024

"Customer Care has been a seamless transition from the care we received prior to moving in and we’re both just over the moon."

When David, Mo and Alfie the dog decided it was time to downsize from their family home in Inverness, they visited our beautiful Willowburn development in Tarves. After visiting the stunning Gardener Showhome, their decision was made! Hear more about their journey to buying their new home.

What made you make the move from Inverness to Tarves?

“Our family lives close by and with our first grandchild a short drive away, it ticked all those boxes in a location. We loved Tarves after our first visit. The Willowburn development is just the right size for us with a lovely mix of different people. We were concerned it might all be young families and it’s not. We love long dog walks and David has become a member of Meldrum House golf club which was important to us.”

What attracted you to Scotia Homes and in particular, the Gardener house type?

We had friends who had purchased a Scotia home in Blairgowrie and after visiting, we were really impressed. They had nothing but good things to say which definitely encouraged us to visit and see what was on offer. We came along not sure of what size of property we were looking for that would tick all our boxes and on a visit with our daughter, we walked into the Gardener showhome and just fell in love with it. What suits us is with it being just the two of us, we have 3 great sized bedrooms but an abundance of downstairs space, with separate kitchen which we love – it’s the perfect house for us to downsize to. I’ve even got a reading nook upstairs which I love. The natural light is abundant in our new home and it makes you feel great. It’s just so lovely!”

What’s your favourite feature of your new home?

“I do love my kitchen and the fact we have space for either a small dining table or as we’ve done, a little sitting area. We just love the amount of space! Another feature we love is our walk in wardrobe. We’ve come from a house that was over 30 years old and the difference in the warmth is already noticeable!

How was your experience when reserving your new home with Scotia and did anything stand out about the process?

“Having previously carried out an Early Bird reservation on a future plot due to missing out on the one we wanted, I just happened to go on the website one Monday morning. I’m not a great one for live chats but having reached out after seeing the plot we’d previously been interested in was back available, I didn’t hesitate! Sally got back to us quickly and provided us with a walkthrough video of the plot which made our mind up immediately! From the first day we visited Kim bent over backwards to help us and really made us feel confident. The attention and care shown by both Sales Advisors was exceptional. The process was so smooth and even just the checking in with us to make sure everything was moving as we wanted was so lovely. Both Sales Advisors clearly both care immensely about their jobs and you could really feel that.

Favourite thing about Tarves and what makes it a great place to live?

It’s just really friendly - the people are unbelievable! You’ll be out walking the dog and people will get chatting and recommend walks to you and give you tips and tricks – even what day the fish van appears! We’ve been really impressed. The local Facebook page is fantastic for finding local tradesmen and seeing what’s on in the community. We just love the location and being in the countryside but with all your daily amenities being so close by. We’ve been exploring our new home and have visited Fyvie Castle and done lots of walks at Haddo House.

Any tips for moving home?

“Definitely getting rid of anything you won’t need – be ruthless! Get rid of all your rubbish you’ve gathered over the years. Just think what you want to bring into your new home and get rid of the rest. Also get yourself a good removal company – they put up our bed so after a long day of unpacking, it was one less thing we had to think about which was wonderful.

What’s the aftercare been like after moving in to your new home?

Lynn in Customer Care is absolutely superb. I sent an email about a small drip with a tap before I was due to go golfing at Meldrum House and before I had even left, she’d responded and there was a plumber taking care of it a short time after. I think it was within 7 minutes! The guys from site that have been round are all so lovely and courteous of your new home which makes a huge difference. Customer Care has been a seamless transition from the care we received prior to moving in and we’re both just over the moon.”
