Following a variation to planning earlier this month, Brechin Community Campus is excited to be involved in Brechin West’s garden and allotment project, providing young children and families in Brechin the opportunity to take advantage of the acres of green space.

The landscape plans will see the delivery of a large school garden in the west-end of Brechin, benefitting from an allotment, community woodland and orchard.

Lillian Black, Rural Studies Teacher at the Community Campus in Brechin, comments on the project: “We are delighted to be building in a community aspect to the Scotia Homes development, this will allow school students to have hands on experience of Sustainable Learning in all its forms.”

This project will benefit nearly 700 school pupils, their families, and the local community by providing green space for outdoor learning from environmental studies and more to somewhere safe for locals to enjoy in their free time.

Lesley Lindsay, Project Manager at Scotia Homes who has been working closely with Lillian and the Community Campus to bring this partnership to life, talks of the project’s success to date: “We are thrilled Brechin’s Community Campus approached Scotia Homes about this project, we were more than happy to get involved, providing the necessary space, design, and planning input to help this project come to fruition. We feel the project is well aligned to our vision of creating desirable neighbourhoods for all, encouraging connections within the community, as well as our sustainability and bio-diversity goals. We are very excited to see the plans materialise on-site”.
